Neste launched Neste MY Renewable Diesel, made from 100% waste and residues, at the beginning of 2017. Neste wanted to inform drivers about the new fuel, and what better place to do so than Neste gas stations where the fuel was available.
We trained 35 promoters as service refuelers, who went to the stations to advise customers about the new product and, of course, assisted them with refueling. The goal was to encourage as many diesel car drivers as possible to try the new, cleaner alternative. Although the price was slightly higher than other diesel grades, we managed to get over half of the diesel car drivers to choose the new option.
During the refueling sessions, it was beneficial to talk to customers about Neste MY, and we conducted a small market research to map the consumers' reactions to the new fuel. We prepared a comprehensive report on the research for the client, who gained a lot of valuable information from the service station attendants. The service station proprietors were also very satisfied with our promoters and the sales increase we generated.
